Rep. Susie Lee Joins Bipartisan Group of Lawmakers to Introduce the Restoring Investment in Improvements Act, Fixing Problems Caused by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017

March 26, 2019

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) helped introduce legislation with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to correct a mistake created with the passage of the Tax Cuts and Job Act of 2017. The Restoring Investment in Improvements Act allows businesses to once again invest through necessary renovation and improvement projects.

"Southern Nevada's economy is fueled by vibrant locally-owned businesses that create jobs, invest in our community, and expand opportunity. These small businesses are the backbone of our economy and they need to be able to invest in themselves so they can keep up with the growing and changing area," said Rep. Susie Lee. "The Restoring Investment in Improvements Act empowers our restaurant, retail, and manufacturing business owners to invest in their businesses. We must do everything we can to provide our business owners with the tools to thrive, which is why I'm proud to help introduce this bipartisan bill that shows how we can come together to find common ground, stand up for our small business owners, and boost our local economy. This is a commonsense fix to what, quite frankly, was a mistake of the poorly conceived tax bill"

"Thank you to Congresswoman Lee for signing on as a co-sponsor of this bill. We're grateful for the bipartisan efforts to introduce the Restoring Investment in Improvements Act," said Amber Stidham, Government Affairs Director of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. "For many seeking to make significant improvement investments, we believe this act could help restore and aid those impacted businesses and therefore encourage their growth."
