Rep. Susie Lee Votes to Pass House Budget Resolution Laying Groundwork for the Build Back Better Plan

August 24, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) released the following statement after voting to pass S.Con.Res 14, which allows the House of Representatives to begin the budget reconciliation process:

"Nevada was hit hard by the pandemic, and I am going to do everything I can to help us recover and rebuild stronger than ever. I was proud to help negotiate the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and urge House leadership to bring it to a vote on the floor, but I know there is still more we can do to help working families and seniors. That's why I support this budget resolution. The Build Back Better plan is an investment in Nevada families that will lower costs and taxes for working families. This plan will also create millions of jobs while tackling the climate crisis that has caused such extreme drought in Nevada. It cuts prescription drug prices and expands Medicare benefits for millions of seniors. And importantly, the plan invests in our children by extending the expanded Child Tax Credit and investing in child care and education. This is the first step in this process, and as we continue to determine the details, I will fight for a fiscally responsible budget that delivers for Nevada."
