Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) hosted a Facebook Live roundtable to discuss Older Americans Act services and resources for Americans who are 55 years of age or older and the importance of supporting those services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have a duty to protect our older Americans,” said Rep. Lee. “One of my proudest accomplishments during my first term in Congress was bringing Republicans and Democrats together to reauthorize and strengthen the Older Americans Act. The dozens of critical programs funded by the Older Americans Act are more important than ever, from Meals on Wheels and family caregiver support to legal services and transportation. We successfully strengthened these programs, but our work isn’t done. We need to ensure our seniors know how to access these services, which is why roundtables like today’s are so important.”
BACKGROUND: In March 2020, President Trump signed into law Rep. Susie Lee's bill, the Supporting Older Americans Act. This law reauthorizes and updates the Older Americans Act, which benefits roughly 11 million seniors who use important social services and community-based programs.
