Congresswoman Lee Receives Salvation Army’s “Fight for Good” Award

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) was awarded the “Fight for Good” award by the Salvation Army for her work helping to alleviate poverty and homelessness for children and families across southern Nevada.
In southern Nevada, the Salvation Army has seven locations and served over 71,000 people across the state 2022. The Salvation Army is a charitable faith-based organization that operates in more than 5,000 communities across the U.S. to provide emergency assistance, job training, and a variety of programing to address poverty.
“No one should have to worry about keeping a roof over their head or putting food on the table. That’s why I’m proud to be a strong partner to the Salvation Army in their efforts to combat poverty and homelessness, and I’m honored to receive this award. I will continue my work in Congress to end child poverty and lower housing costs,” said Congresswoman Lee.
In addition to receiving the award, Congresswoman Lee met with National Chief Secretary Colonel James Betts and Salvation Army leadership to discuss how the Salvation Army supports efforts to tackle homelessness and poverty in Nevada.
Representing Nevada’s Third Congressional District, Congresswoman Lee is a strong advocate for addressing poverty. Last year, Lee introduced legislation to invest in sustainable homeownership for Nevada veterans. She also announced nearly $15 million in federal funding to combat homelessness in southern Nevada, and $4 million to expand affordable housing. Before coming to Congress, Lee was an education non-profit leader.
