Congresswoman Lee Holds 4th Annual Tax Refunds Webinar with Local Tax Experts
Help Nevadans File Taxes, Access Tax Credits
LAS VEGAS – Ahead of the April 15th tax filing deadline, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) hosted her 4th annual Tax Refunds Webinar with a panel of local tax experts to help southern Nevadans file their taxes and learn about new tax credits and ways to save money on their tax returns this filing season.
“No one likes taxes or tax season, which is why every year I bring together a panel of tax experts to help make filing your taxes easy and stress-free. And this year, I’m proud to announce new ways to save money thanks to legislation I’ve championed in Congress,” said Congresswoman Lee. “I was proud to help fund the brand-new Direct File program that allows Nevada families to file directly with the IRS for free. And I’ll continue fighting through the gridlock in Washington to deliver tax cuts for the middle class and further expand the Child Tax Credit.”
Last Congress, Congresswoman Lee helped negotiate and pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which provided funds for the new Direct File program that is debuting in 12 states, including Nevada. Nearly 500,000 low- and middle-income Nevada families will be eligible for this service, offered in both English and Spanish, that allows filers to go directly to the IRS to file for free.
This Congress, Lee helped pass a bipartisan tax package in the U.S. House that:
-
Expands the Child Tax Credit, which is estimated to benefit 38,000 children in Nevada’s Third Congressional District in its first year alone.
-
Enhances the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, which will help develop more than 200,000 affordable housing units.
-
Spurs investment in domestic research and development for Nevada small businesses.
Congresswoman Lee was joined by senior tax experts from the Internal Revenue Service, Taxpayer Advocate Service, and Nevada Free Taxes Coalition. This panel shared updates to available tax credits and filing deadlines, resources available to southern Nevadans, and guidance for filing that results in less errors and quicker refunds.
