Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV) introduced a bipartisan amendment to the Veterans' Access to Child Care Act that would ensure every veteran is able to access child care services regardless of whether they are using them at a VA Medical Center or a Vet Center. Under the bill as written, only veterans at VA Medical Centers would have access to child care. However, a large number of veterans also receive mental health treatment and re-adjustment services at Vet Centers.
Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Susie Lee announced she will be bringing Sergeant Isaac Saldivar as her guest to the State of the Union. Sergeant Saldivar is a Marine Corps veteran who deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, and now helps other veterans stay active as the Las Vegas Program Coordinator for Merging Vets. After his military service, Sergeant Saldivar returned to Las Vegas and enrolled in a for-profit college. When he was only three classes away from graduating with an Associate's degree, the institution closed, causing him to lose two years of GI Bill benefits.
