WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced the introduction of the Keep Our Promise to America's Children and Teachers (PACT) Act. The legislation would put Congress on a fiscally responsible path to meet its obligation to fully fund Title I and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) on a mandatory basis over the next 10 years.

“Equipment like fixed anchors were going to be removed from federal wilderness areas,” reported Nevada Congresswoman Susie Lee who has climbed with Honnold at Red Rock. Lee jumped into action championing the Protecting America’s Rock Climbing (PARC) Act protecting more than 50,000 climbing routes on public lands in 28 states. It passed unanimously in the House and Senate.

Lee said she noticed a need for the PARC Act when the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service proposed classifying fixed anchors, or the permanent hardware bolted into mountains for climbers to secure themselves, as prohibited in wilderness areas. The law now protects these fixed anchors, of which there are thousands across Southern Nevada.

LAS VEGAS – Today, at the Red Rock Canyon Overlook, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) held a press conference to announce and celebrate the bipartisan Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences (EXPLORE) Act being signed into law. Lee helped lead the bipartisan legislation which included two bills she championed to expand recreational climbing and biking opportunities.

"I have a constituent whose daughter was accepted to pharmacy school, and because that funding has been frozen, they were hit with the $22,000 bill for her tuition because she had a fellowship through the NIH," said Lee. "We have reports from constituents who are waiting or from people in this country who are waiting for bone marrow, plant transplants, critical cancer clinical trials, many of those are being put on hold."
