The Congresswoman hopes to address the issue at a root level; her solution is listing this as a federal crime, which would allow law enforcement to confiscate the stolen merchandise.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — U.S. Rep. Susie Lee on Monday called for federal action to combat organized retail crime, saying coordinated theft rings are costing Nevada millions and threatening public safety.

“Accessing critical minerals and materials is essential for our national security and energy grid. Government red tape should not be a barrier to development and innovation,” said Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV-03), a co-sponsor of the bill. “Whether something is a ‘critical mineral’ according to the Interior Department or a ‘critical material’ according to the Energy Department, the federal government should treat all as critical resources. I’m glad my commonsense, bipartisan bill is one step closer to providing the clarity that both industry and federal agencies need.”

Rep. Susie Lee, D-Nev., said the aftermath of the initial strikes left her with “more questions for the Trump administration than answers.”

Five members of Nevada’s congressional delegation issued statements this weekend in response to U.S. military action against Iran. Each lawmaker called on the administration to engage Congress and raising concerns about the prospect of a prolonged regional conflict.
