WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV) and Rep. Michelle Steel (R-CA) announced the introduction of the bipartisan Hire Student Veterans Act. This legislation would provide a tax credit to businesses that hire part-time veterans who are using their VA-administered educational benefits and taking advantage of paid internships and other work opportunities while still in school.

WASHINGTON – This week, Rep. Susie Lee announced that the first round of new federal transit funding under the historic bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) is headed to Nevada. The state will receive $27,208,746 to strengthen public transportation systems, support transit jobs and make critical investments, including in new bus and railcar acquisitions, facility upgrades and other key projects.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representatives Susie Lee (D-NV) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced the Cyber Ready Workforce Act, bipartisan legislation that would direct the U.S. Department of Labor to award grants to increase access to registered apprenticeship programs in cybersecurity.

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) announced that the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded the City of Henderson $150,000 in American Rescue Plan funds for promotion of the arts. The City of Henderson will use this funding to implement a two-part plan to support local artists, foster tourism, and continue to develop arts and culture within the city. NEA is awarding these ARP grants to support the arts and culture sector as it recovers from the pandemic.

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Susie Lee voted to pass the Ensuring Veterans’ Smooth Transition Act (EVEST) to ensure veterans receive the health benefits they have earned through the VA health care system. This legislation will cut out bureaucratic complications by automatically enrolling all eligible servicemembers into VA health care during the transition process, with an opt-out provision should they wish to not enroll.
