WASHINGTON – In today’s Fiscal Year 2023 Department of the Interior (DOI) budget hearing for the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, Rep. Susie Lee directed questions to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. Rep. Lee questioned Secretary Haaland on steps being taken by DOI to advance and appropriately site renewable energy projects on public lands and emphasized the importance of creating a cleaner energy grid to combat climate change.

WASHINGTON – In today’s hearing for the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water and Related Agencies, Rep. Susie Lee advocated for rapid deployment of bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funds for western water. Rep. Lee also spoke to the need for additional funding to implement drought contingency plans and to improve water levels at Lake Mead.

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Lee voted to secure urgently needed relief for small businesses across southern Nevada. The Relief for Restaurants & Other Hard Hit Small Businesses Act will deliver $55 billion to replenish funding for Nevada restaurants and establish a new program supporting other small businesses impacted by the pandemic.

WASHINGTON – Today, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held a hearing with six Big Oil executives on the fossil fuel industry’s role in rising gas prices. Today’s hearing follows Rep. Lee’s letter to Congressional leadership last month, urging investigations and public hearings on alleged price gouging within the oil and gas industries. With today’s hearing, Nevadans are beginning to get answers for the rising prices that they are facing at the pump.

WASHINGTON – In today’s Fiscal Year 2023 Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) budget hearing for the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Rep. Susie Lee directed questions to VA Secretary Denis McDonough. During her questioning, Rep. Lee secured a commitment from Secretary McDonough to reconsider the proposed VA facility closure in Laughlin, Nevada. She also advocated for increased transparency regarding the rollout of the Electric Health Records Modernization (EHRM) program.

Susie Lee announced that she received the Distinguished Community Health Champion Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) for her advocacy for community health centers in Nevada and across the country. Rep. Lee was presented with the award while meeting with representatives from Nevada's community health centers in her Washington, D.C. office.

Tony Gonzales (R-TX) introduced the Communities Serving Schools Act, which would provide grants to state and local education agencies for wrap-around services that assist students outside the classroom with their health, well-being, and growth.
